Graduation Requirement: 2 credits of the same World Language
French 1-6:
In these courses, the student will learn to read, write, and speak French with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, verb conjugations, and pronunciation. They will also study culture, music, and geography.
German 1-6:
In these courses, the student will learn to read, write, and speak German with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, verb conjugations, and pronunciation. They will also study culture, music, and geography.
Japanese 1-6:
These classes will focus on grammar, speaking, and listening skills in Japanese. Students will learn to read and write hiragana and may also begin katakana. Japanese culture will be explored.
American Sign Language (ASL) 1-4:
In these courses, the student will learn American Sign Language including beginner/intermediate/advanced vocabulary, conversational skills, grammar, and cultural aspects of the deaf community.
Spanish 1-6:
In these courses, the student will learn to read, write, and speak Spanish with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, verb conjugations, and pronunciation. They will also study culture, music, and geography.
Introduction to any of the world languages:
The introductory level is offered to students who have a strong interest in the language, but are still developing the necessary student skills to master the traditional first-year courses. This course counts as a social studies or elective credit.
Language Study for any of the world languages:
This course follows 2 years of a world language when a student has a high interest in the language, but could use more time to master second-year skills. It is a continuation of language study without the rigor of a 3rd or 4th course. This course counts as a social studies or elective credit.
